President of Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay visited Azerbaijan Ambassador to Ankara Hazar İbrahim along with his delegation on 27 January 2021.
The visit was attended by Mayor Altay, TDBB Administrative Board Member Mayor of Altındağ Asım Balcı and TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak.
In the meeting, President Altay congratulated all Azerbaijani people due to the victory they have achieved against Armenia and he said that they, as TDBB, are ready to contribute to the construction and restoration of Nagorno Karabakh which was released from the Armenian occupation. President Altay also posited that, “As I also expressed it to our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan before his last visit to Azerbaijan, we are ready to fulfill our responsibilities regarding the reconstruction of the cities in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Adopting the motto of our countries “one nation – two states”, I commemorate our martyrs in Nagorno-Karabakh and wish a quick recovery to our veterans. I believe that what needs to be done for now is to restore the cities over the region and revive them. We are always ready to support you both morally and financially. We wish to reestablish the sister city relations and to boost the cooperation between us.”
Azerbaijan Ambassador to Ankara Hazar İbrahim expressed his gratitude to the delegation for the visit and added that, “Our leaders have carried our brotherhood forward as the leaders of one nation and two states. This is what we want from the bottom of our hearts. Moreover, as one nation, we have no other way. I thank all the municipalities. We, as brother countries, should share the experience in the field of municipal management with each other. It would be beneficial to be in contact between the two countries in sister city context”.
The visit was ended with mutual gifts and family photos in memory of the day.
