President of Union of Kazakhstan Municipalities Erkimbek Rakimbaev and his delegation visited Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) on 3 October 2024 and met with Secretary General Fahri Solak.
During the meeting, the project “Creating an Effective Local Government System in Kazakhstan: Situation, Problems, Solutions, Innovations” prepared by Union of Kazakhstan Municipalities and approved by the Ministry of Science of Kazakhstan was evaluated. The aim of the project, which will be implemented between 2024 and 2026, was determined as examining the current situation of local governments and developing an innovative management model. Within the scope of the project, the problems of local governments in various regions of Kazakhstan will be identified, and legal and financial foundation recommendations will be presented.
Project coordinator Gulnara Alibaeva said in her speech at the meeting, “I am very pleased to be here. Turkey’s experience in municipality is very important to us. I hope that we will achieve successful work in the future. We are planning to organize an international conference in Kazakhstan next year. We will be happy to see mayors from Turkey here.”
TDBB Secretary General Fahri Solak also gave information about the projects of TDBB and local governments in Turkey. He stated that TDBB, which has over 1200 members from 30 different countries, has 30 members from Kazakhstan. Expressing his pleasure in working closely with the Union of Kazakhstan Municipalities Solak said, “We want new members from Kazakhstan to become members of TDBB. We expect the support of the Union of Kazakhstan Municipalities in this regard. As TDBB, we are ready to do our best to develop cooperation.”
