“Uzbekistan Local Authorities Information and Experience Sharing Program” organized by Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) in cooperation with Mahallabay Agency of Uzbekistan, Arnavutköy, Bahçelievler, Güngören and Kağıthane Municipalities was held in Istanbul on 16-21 November 2024.
Program was attended by the Head of Department of Mahallabay Agency Azim Nizamov, Mahallabay Agency Expert Aspandiyor Tojiboev, Advisor to the Mayor of Tashkent Municipality Shavkat Kurbanbaev, Advisor to the Mayor of Tashkent Municipality Azam Nurmuradov, Advisor to the Mayor of Samarkand Municipality Azimjon Altıboev, Gairat Ostonov, Advisor to the Mayor of Bukhara Municipality, Shukhratbek Abdurahmanov, Advisor to the Mayor of Andijan Municipality, Sanobarkhon Akbarova, Advisor to the Mayor of Fergana Municipality, Shukhrat Jumaniyazov, Advisor to the Mayor of Khorezm Municipality and Gairatjon Arifboev, Advisor to the Mayor of Namangan Municipality.
On the first day of the program, 18 November 2024, the delegation visited Bahçelievler Municipality and met with Deputy Mayor Göksel Erdem, followed by a presentation on “Neighborhood Organization in Turkey and Municipal Relations with Local NGOs” and a field trip.
On the same day, the delegation visited Güngören Municipality and met with Güngören Mayor Bünyamin Demir. After the visit, the delegation listened to the presentation on “Inspection Services of Local Governments in Turkey” and went on a field trip. The delegation was accompanied by Güngören Municipality Zabıta Manager Mehmet Akgün. The Uzbek delegation also visited Harezmi Student Station, Gazzali Culture and Art Center and Sofra Güngören in Güngören.
On the second day of the program, the delegation visited Kağıthane Municipality, where a presentation on “Central Administration and Local Government Relations in Turkey” was made and a field trip was organized. The program continued on the same day with a visit to Arnavutköy Municipality. The delegation was given a presentation on “The Role of Local Governments in Construction Licensing and Control in Turkey” followed by a field trip.
On the third day of the program on 20 November 2024, the delegation visited the historical and cultural sites of Istanbul. In the afternoon of the same day, Uzbekistan delegation visited TDBB and met with Secretary General Fahri Solak. After the meeting where the program was evaluated, certificates of participation were presented to the delegation.
The program was completed with the delegation’s return to their countries on 21 November 2024.
