About Us

At the Azerbaijan Summit in 2000 presidents of the countries speaking the Turkic languages and dialects have taken decision to “Develop cooperation between the local governments” as a part of the Article 10 of the decisions on the development of mutual cooperation between countries. Union of Turkish World Municipalities was established by the decision of the Council of Ministers on November 12, 2003, with the aim of carrying out studies on the cities and towns where Turkic languages and dialects are spoken or have a geographical, historical and cultural relationship with the Turkophone areas. Our Union continues to operate under the law No. 3335 of the Establishment of Internationally Qualified Entities. Eleven countries are represented in TDBB’s Board of Directors. Headquarters of the union is in Istanbul.

Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) with more than 1,179 member municipalities from 30 countries conducts a variety of programs and projects to develop cooperation between the local governments in friendly and brotherly countries in the geographical area extending from the Balkans to the Caucasus and Central Asia.
