Within the scope of the Board of Directors Meeting held in July, a cooperation protocol concerning the restoration and furnishing of the Plovdiv Mevlevi Lodge, located in the city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, was signed between the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).
The protocol was signed by TDBB President Uğur İbrahim Altay and TİKA President Abdullah Eren.
Within the
scope of the cooperation, it is aimed to preserve the historical and cultural
character of the Plovdiv Mevlevi Lodge, carry out the necessary restoration
works, and furnish the structure appropriately.
Through the
works to be carried out for the Plovdiv Mevlevi Lodge, one of the important
cultural heritages of Turkish-Islamic civilization in the Balkans, it is aimed
to pass this historical structure on to future generations and contribute to
the preservation of the region’s common cultural heritage.
This
cooperation between TDBB and TİKA constitutes an important example of joint
efforts aimed at strengthening the historical and cultural ties between the
Turkic world and the Balkans.
