About Us
Cooperation Between Local Governments from the Balkans to the Caucasus and Central Asia
At the Azerbaijan Summit in 2000, presidents of the countries speaking Turkic languages and dialects took the decision to "Develop cooperation between local governments" as part of Article 10 on the development of mutual cooperation between countries.
The Union of Turkish World Municipalities was established by the decision of the Council of Ministers on November 12, 2003, with the aim of carrying out studies on urban management in countries and regions where Turkic languages and dialects are spoken, or that share geographical, historical and cultural ties with these areas.
Our Union operates under Law No. 3335 on the Establishment of Internationally Qualified Entities. Eleven countries are represented on the TDBB Board of Directors. The headquarters of the Union is in Istanbul.
The Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB), with approximately 1,200 member municipalities from 30 countries, conducts a variety of programs and projects to develop cooperation between local governments across a geographical area extending from the Balkans to the Caucasus and Central Asia.
